Ruakura Urban Upgrade
Overtime our projects have naturally become bigger and more involved.
The Ruakura Urban Upgrade is a priority project between HCC and TGH. It provides a crucial link to this section of the busy Waikato expressway. Council records reveal 21,000 cars currently travel along Ruakura Rd each weekday. With Ruakura to eventually be home to an estimated 8,000 people Ruakura Road was unsafe with deep ditches beside the traffic lanes and limited kerbing, lighting or footpaths.
The upgrade project includes developing shared paths and dedicated cycleways along with traffic lights at the intersections of Ruakura Lane / Ruakura Rd and Ruakura Rd / Knighton Rd. This is intended to improve the safety for all road users, pedestrians and cyclists. Ultimately Terraform’s work will help them walk, bike and scoot their way safely around their neighbourhood and beyond.
To date, footpaths have been prepared and poured on both sides of Ruakura Road, along with traffic islands, and the Transpower and Hellaby Industrial crossings. The decorative footpaths and colourful park bench seating areas reflect Tainui’s tribal story and cultural heritage creating a compelling and unique impression.
