Hamilton Zoo-Waiwhakakeke

Terraform Concrete Construction are delighted to be involved in another important project for our beautiful city and region - creating welcoming, safe and accessible environments for families and visitors to enjoy.

We were engaged by Schick Civil Construction to develop the new shared entrance precinct for one of the Waikato region’s most popular attractions, the Hamilton Zoo-Waiwhakakeke. Project client Hamilton City Council had a clear project vision - to create a strong sense of arrival and improve the connection between the Zoo and Wetland spaces, as well as providing safe access for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists.

The new entrance and café space makes a striking first impression. The key elements for this project included concrete walls at the Zoo entrance and heading into the zoo that are both safe and durable for kids to walk on and sit on. Terraform’s concreting was carried out during challenging lockdown circumstances from August – December 2021 and happily concluded in time for the official opening just before Christmas 2021.
